Jeffrey Herlings went 4-5-2 in Sweden and is now 48 points behind championship leader, Tim Gajser, with just five round to go in the MXGP world championship after a weekend of not the greatest luck at Uddevalla.

Herlings even crashed while chasing Prado on the last lap of race two and had ice on his hand during the post-race TV interview where he said: “I think I’m okay, on the last lap on the table-top before the waves, I came out of the turn and there was big kickers and I front-flipped and got my hand between the handlebars, it’s swollen now. It was okay, I had a lot of bad luck, Calvin crashed right in front of me in the qualifying heat and I had nowhere to go.

“First moto I had a really good start, I was fifth and Tim pushed me out of the track so I was 15th, definitely the luck was not on my side, but second moto the speed was good and came out with another podium. But for the championship it was not the best.”

With Arnhem next it’s a must win for the Dutchman to keep his slim hopes of a title alive.
