Jorge Prado’s championship aspirations received a huge boost after a devastating double moto win at the Swedish GP that saw Prado come from 10th to first in a brilliant first moto ride and simply stunning pass on Tim Gajser for the lead. Prado then controlled the second moto with only Jeffrey Herlings able to stay with the Spaniard, until he crashed pushing hard on the last lap.

A beaming Prado who is now just 17 points down on Gajser with five rounds to go, said: “I’m so happy to finally get back on top of the box, especially going 1-1. Two solid motos, the first one was so tough coming from behind, this one (race two) I made it easy on myself getting that holeshot. I was leading and got that gap at the beginning and I knew it was going to be hard with the lappers and so it was! Jeffrey was catching me a little bit at the end just with the lappers but as soon as I got free I was pulling away. I felt super good on track, it was sketchy but I made it happen. So happy, let’s go for the championship!

“I knew I had to be on my 100% to get the overall here and that’s what I did. Let’s move onto the sand and hopefully get another win there.”

Prado has the momentum now heading into the sand which will likely be Gajser’s toughest test in the last five rounds, Prado is really keeping the pressure on the Slovenian who now has very little margin for error.
