After a short one-year break, the Motocross World Championship will return to Saint Jean d’Angély in 2027. The Charente-based club has been selected by the French and International federations, as well as Infront, the championship promoter, to host the 2027 MXGP of France.
Motocross enthusiasts in Saint Jean d’Angély love organising top-level events and, after hosting the French Elite Championship this year, an MXGP World Championship round will take centre stage in 2027. While the date has yet to be confirmed, the MCA team used the recent MXGP of France at Lacapelle-Marival to meet with governing bodies, who approved the Moto Club Angérien’s bid.
“Within the club, we still have the motivation and energy to host World Championship events, which have grown considerably since the first Grand Prix we organised in 1984,” explained club president Boissonnot.
“By regularly organising Grands Prix, the club has continuously evolved to adapt to the development of the sport, both in terms of the track and the facilities for spectators and teams. After taking a break this year, we are both proud and delighted to see that the FFM, FIM and Infront have once again placed their trust in us.”
The 2027 MXGP will be the 24th Grand Prix in the club’s history. It marks another milestone in a journey that began with the first motocross event held at the Fosse aux Loups circuit in April 1954.
From the inaugural Grand Prix in 1984, highlighted by the battle between Jacky Vimond and Heinz Kinigadner, to the 23rd Grand Prix organised in 2025 and won by Andrea Adamo and Tim Gajser, the club has continually worked and invested to ensure that France remains one of the sport’s leading nations.
Having already hosted two editions of the Motocross of Nations, four Sidecar World Championship events and nineteen Grands Prix, Saint Jean d’Angély has firmly established itself as one of the strongholds of motocross in France. There is little doubt that in 2027, thousands of fans will once again travel to Charente-Maritime to cheer on their favourites.
