Brian Bogers delivered a dramatic ride during the first MXGP moto in Portugal—a circuit that has often brought the best out of the Dutch rider.

In challenging, muddy conditions, Bogers was riding superbly and running in third place when disaster struck. A mistake saw him crash and, in an unusual turn of events, dislocate his shoulder. With his bike left at the side of the track, Bogers made his way to the medical centre to receive treatment. However, before he even got there, the shoulder popped back into place by itself.

Wasting no time, Bogers made a U-turn, remounted his machine, and rejoined the race. Despite the setback and time lost, he pushed through the pain and salvaged 18th place—crucial championship points in the grand scheme of the season.

Feeling relatively okay after the ordeal, Bogers lined up for race two, hoping to build on his gritty performance. Unfortunately, a technical issue with the bike forced him to retire from the moto and register a DNF.

It was a frustrating end to a heroic effort, but Bogers once again proved his toughness and determination on a track that continues to be a stronghold for him.

Bogers provided an update via Fantic below:

So, the first race was a special story. I mean, I had actually quite a good start in fourth, I directly went into third. I was almost all the race in third, then I made a mistake, and my shoulder dislocated.

I tried to put it in myself, but it didn’t work. So, I was already on my way back to the medical, to put it back in. But I don’t know what happened, I stepped over a hole or something and it popped back in itself.

So, I was like okay, it’s back in. So maybe I try to finish the lap and while I was trying to finish the lap, it felt quite okay. So I finished the moto and even yeah, it took very long but still finished 18th.
