Watching the 2026 MXGB British Championship unfold, it is impossible not to be impressed by Charlie Heyman’s form. Five rounds into the series, the young British talent has opened up an impressive 55-point lead at the top of the standings and is looking every bit like a rider in complete control.
For those only tuning into the championship this season, it would be easy to assume Heyman has been dominating the pro ranks for years. The reality, however, is very different. Since stepping into the professional class, success has not always come easily, but years of hard work, persistence and belief are finally paying dividends.
“I am definitely happy with where I am at the moment. Myself and the team have been working hard at the minute and just getting the job done and staying consistent. It has been years since I have been winning like this, but I’m not surprised by it. At the moment we have put a lot of work into this and now it is really starting to show”, Heyman told GateDrop.com.
The Brit is set to line up in at least two rounds of the MX2 World Championship this season, beginning with the British Grand Prix at Foxhill before tackling the notoriously demanding Dutch sand circuit at Arnhem.
It remains to be seen whether additional GP appearances will be added to his schedule, but British motocross fans will be eager to see how he measures up against the world’s best. With the confidence he is currently riding with, Heyman has every chance of turning heads and gaining valuable experience for the future.
”I will be racing the MX2 World Championship at Foxhill. I’m going there with no expectations, but I will do my best to put a great show on for the home fans that will turn up and support us. I want to be well in the points at the GP but if I ride like I can which I know I will do then I will just enjoy the experience and the home crowd”.

While the MX2 World Championship offers an exciting opportunity, Heyman remains firmly focused on his primary objectives for the season. Domestic success is at the top of the agenda, with both the British and Scottish titles firmly in his sights.
Beyond that, another dream remains alive. Representing Team GB at the Motocross des Nations is an ambition shared by many riders, and Heyman hopes his performances this year will be enough to earn him a first call-up to the prestigious event in France. Judging by the way he has been riding in 2026, he is making a compelling case through results rather than words.
“This year my main aim is to win the British Championship as well as the Scottish Championship. I also want to ride for Team GB at the Motocross des Nations”, Heyman concluded.
With consistency, confidence and momentum all on his side, Heyman is enjoying the finest season of his professional career. The domestic titles may be his immediate focus, but his upcoming MX2 GP appearances and ambitions of representing Team GB suggest this could be only the beginning. If he continues on his current trajectory, British motocross may well have found its next rider capable of making an impact on the international stage.
