Young Italian talent Filippo Mantovani is set for a big step in his career as he moves up to the EMX250 series for the 2026 season. After a superb final year in EMX125, Mantovani is ready to take on the challenge of the 250cc category while continuing with the structure that helped fuel his rise in 2025.

Mantovani enjoyed a standout 2025 campaign in the EMX125 series, establishing himself as one of the class’s frontrunners. A regular presence on the podium, he secured third in the championship standings and delivered an impressive performance at the Junior World Championship, where he claimed the silver medal behind Mano Faure. It was unquestionably a breakout season for the Italian and one that signalled his readiness for the next step.

That next step comes in the form of the EMX250 series, where Mantovani will make his rookie-season debut in 2026. He will remain with the same setup he worked with this year, supported by the MTA MX Racing team and continuing aboard KTM machinery – a stable environment as he adapts to the bigger bike.

Alongside EMX250, Mantovani will also compete in the Italian Championship, giving him plenty of race time as he focuses on development, progression and finding his feet in the highly competitive 250cc class.

The work has already begun, with Mantovani training in Belgium over winter as preparations ramp up for the new season. Early signs are positive, with the young Italian already feeling comfortable on the 250cc machine as he looks to build on his momentum from 2025.

“I think to stay with the same setup of last year is the best because it is a familiar team for me. The decision is to go together for another year and this I liked; the bikes are really good, and I feel really good with the people in the team.  I really like the 250cc bike and the trainings are going really good so far. I’m in Belgium for the winter trainings now. I want to enjoy all the races in 2026 and have good sensations on the bike – I trust the winter process”, Mantovani told GateDrop.com.
