When injuries sidelined both Kevin Horgmo and Cornelius Tøndel, many assumed Norway would withdraw from the 2025 Motocross des Nations. Instead, the nation has confirmed its participation with a youthful but promising squad.
Håkon Østerhagen will step up to the MX1 class, making the move onto a 450cc machine. Joining him is Haakon Fredriksen, who will also compete on a 450cc but in the Open category. Completing the team is Pelle Gundersen, who began the year in the EMX250 series but has since transitioned into the MX2 World Championship. Gundersen will take the MX2 spot for Norway.
Though Norway is not traditionally seen as a motocross powerhouse, the team’s determination to compete—despite losing two of their leading riders—shows resilience and ambition. With Østerhagen, Fredriksen, and Gundersen, Norway field a young trio that carries both talent and potential.
Given the circumstances, it’s an impressive line-up for a small motocross nation, and one that deserves plenty of credit.
The announcement was made via the following statement:
Finally, they are ready. Team Norway will start at the Team World Championship in the USA 4-5 October.
The team representing Norway is:
MX1: Håkon Østerhagen
MX2: Pelle Gundersen
MX Open: Haakon Fredriksen
Big thanks 🙏🏼 to sponsors who come forward and make this possible.
