For the second time this season, Jeffrey Herlings is making a highly anticipated return to racing. Forced to miss the first three GPs of the 2025 campaign to recover from his knee injury – and subsequent surgery – the Dutchman didn’t take long to regain his form and return to winning ways, only to break his collarbone in training at the start of July. Déjà vu.

The Red Bull KTM rider was therefore sidelined for the Finnish and Czech GPs, but “The Bullet” is already back. Following his injury, Jeffrey opted against surgery, preferring a longer recovery time to avoid yet another trip under the knife – with the world title long out of reach for the five-time World Champion.

He will make his comeback this weekend in the Lommel sandpit – arguably the toughest circuit of the season. The goal: to finish the 2025 season on a strong note before starting a new chapter of his career in 2026. But first, a major date on the calendar looms: the Motocross of Nations.

This year, the MXoN heads to Ironman, a track where Jeffrey famously dominated the AMA regulars back in 2017 during a one-off appearance. Eight years later, he could be lining up again at a venue that holds fond memories. With a team likely to feature Coldenhoff and De Wolf alongside him, the Dutch squad would have every reason to set their sights high for this year’s edition of the Nations.

In the meantime, attention turns to Lommel, Uddevalla, Arnhem, Afyonkarahisar, Shanghai, and Darwin to wrap up the 2025 season. We should also see the long-awaited returns of Tim Gajser and Pauls Jonass soon, with both expected back in action as early as the Swedish GP.
