Loket is an old school track with very little traction and it caught out plenty of the worlds best riders this weekend. Some had big crashes and escaped any major injuries but some weren’t so lucky.
We’ve put an injury report together for the following riders that are likely to miss at least one Grand Prix.
Cornelius Tøndel:
Not the race update I wanted to make, but here we are. Last weeks have been a struggle health wise. After dealing with Covid and other illnesses, I wasn’t on my best in the races. A injury from the crash on Saturday made me struggle on Sunday which then caused another injury… I will have to learn to settle with the situation and make wiser decisions. I want it really bad, but sometimes it goes too far like it did this weekend. I will be back soon, time to take some rest to recover now.
Andrea Adamo:
Adamo, who had fallen in morning warm-up, was unseated with less than two minutes to go on the clock and pulled off the track. The Italian would not take to the gate again due to a cut abdomen.
Andrea Adamo, DNF and DNS: “This morning I had a scary crash and I was 50-50 for the races but I said I wanted to try, I wanted to give it a go. I had a pretty good start but then we had the red flag, and I hope everyone is OK. We had to re-group and it was not so easy because I was feeling a bit weak. I fought as much as I could the whole moto but towards the end I made one small mistake and hit my head and also my torso where I had a cut and it re-opened. I had to go to the hospital because my blood pressure was very low. I had some stitches and things are well now. To go home with only five stitches after the fall from the morning is positive and I hope to be back on my bike as soon as I can.”
Jack Chambers:
“Had a big one today… Lucky to be all good after some checks at the hospital. Thank you to everyone already checking up to me”.
Kay Karssemakers:
Another setback… An arm injury resulted in an early end to the weekend in the GP MX2 in Loket, Czech Republic. After a good twelfth place in the qualifying race on Saturday, I had a good feeling for Sunday. But during the restart of the first moto I had an unfortunate crash and suffered a broken thumb and a wound in my elbow. The good news is my arm or elbow isn’t broken! Another little bump in the road.. The luck isn’t on my side this year. But we never give up and hopefully we’ll be back soon!
