Should USA be allowed to use their own fuel at MXoN?

Mitch Payton didn’t hold back on his views about the FIM fuel and sound rules as believes the US team should be allowed to run their own fuel.

Mitch had already explained how much hassle it is for them to test for FIM fuel during their season for SMX to us before the event on Thursday, and Chad Reed shared the post on his story saying the US shouldn’t have to use FIM fuel.

After the event Mitch told Pulp MX: “I have always said a Des Nations without America is just a European championship. It’s America versus Europe, period. Your name on your back, they want nothing more than to beat you.”

“And about this, go to Europe and we have to race against works bike, they don’t have to have the same frame, they don’t have to have the same cylinder head, the swing arm can be longer – all that stuff. And we (USA) have to run production bikes, so we are already kind of caught a little bit off by that. Allow them to have something, I do think they have to adjust that a little bit.

“Of course, the Europeans are going to complain that their fuel is better and their sound is louder, but we don’t have sandcast cases or a one-off cylinder head. There was a while when Honda in the US had to run one swing arm in and in Europe they could run a 15mm longer swingarm because that’s allowed because they want to test that for the future.  Chad Reed went to Italy and I think Chad’s bike was 15 or 19 pounds heavier.”
