Speaking to the global media at a recent KTM press conference, Chase Sexton says he would like to race an MXGP season before be retires – and was almost in for the last round this year in Spain!
“I’m very motivated,” said Sexton on the MXoN. “There was talks about maybe racing the last GP, but like I said, it’s a long season and it’s just a lot of racing. If it was this weekend and we came off outdoors, maybe it’s a little bit of a different story, but coming off SMX, I’ll be riding supercross and popping back on outdoors and going straight, it would just probably wouldn’t work…but, yeah, I’m excited it’s going to be fun, I hear that tracks really good and it’s supposed to also rain a lot over there. So I mean, we’ll see. It’s going to be interesting.
“But yeah, in the future, I would actually, I wouldn’t mind racing a full year of MXGP or two years. That’s kind of on my bucket list, but well, we’ll see what the bosses say!”
KTM racing boss Pit Beirer then smiled said:
“We need you in US for a little while, my friend. I think you have to have some targets in US, but of course, we are maybe the best partner if you want to swap between Europe and America!”
Later, speaking on the PulpMX show, Sexton vented his frustration, at the politics and egos involved when choosing team USA, saying:
“Everyone is pointing fingers. I’m pretty frustrated about the whole thing, because there’s just a lot of egos involved and nobody’s honest. It’s just like, ‘This is what we should do. This person is saying this.’ Dude, we are going to race for our country, there should be no other (thing to consider). The Olympics is the biggest sporting event that all the other sports have. And you can’t even get guys to go race for our country. That should be an honor for you.”
