Rumour: Louis Vosters/Wilvo Racing likely to remain in the MXGP paddock despite losing factory Yamaha effort

Back in June we reported that there’s likely to be change in the MXGP factory Yamaha’s structure for the 2024 season (read more, here) and whilst that hasn’t yet been confirmed, it is still likely to be the case. It has meant that there has been a bit of uncertainty around Louis Vosters from Wilvo who has ran the Factory Yamaha MXGP effort since 2020, invested a lot of finances and done a good job.

With the news Wilvo Racing has lost Factory Yamaha support there has been speculation about the team’s future but the good news is that we believe the team will be staying in the paddock which is great news as it should create another two rides in the MXGP World Championship.

Whilst the brand is yet to be confirmed we also believe that Glenn Coldenhoff who has been part of the Factory Yamaha setup but contract comes to an end of the 2023 season, has agreed a deal to race for Wilvo Racing in 2024. It’s thought that Coldenhoff will sign a two year deal that would take the Dutch talent to 34 years old.

It remains to be seen who Wilvo Racing will sign up as Coldenhoff’s team mate but it brings positive news for MXGP as it’s important to have as many teams as possible in order to create rides for the amount of talent there is in the paddock.
