Coming into the 2024 season, Bobby Bruce landed an opportunity as Steve Dixon signed him up as part of the DRT Kawasaki team. The young Brit started the season contesting the MX2 World Championship before making the switch to MXGP for the last part of the season.
For 2025, we understand that Bruce will be staying with the DRT Kawasaki team but won’t be racing in MXGP or MX2 – instead he’ll focus on the EMX250 championship as it is his final year to contest the series due to the U21 age rule. Bruce feels he could challenge for the title so he wants to try and win an EMX title. The good news is he’ll be staying with the DRT Kawasaki team – there has been speculation in the paddock DRT would be leaving but Steve Dixon remains as committed as ever. The 2025 season will be his 36th in the paddock.
Bruce has good memories racing in EMX, back in 2021 he battled Valerio Lata for the EMX125 championship before eventually finishing runner up but there was no shame in that as we have seen what Lata has gone onto achieve.
With the likes of Janis ReiÅ¡ulis and Ivano van Erp racing the EMX250 championship next year the level is still going to be high and keep Bruce on his toes so he can still improve. The talents moving up from the EMX125 championship can never be under estimated either but it’ll be nice to see a Brit right at the front of the EMX250 championship.
Joe Brookes has done a good job in the EMX250 series the past couple of years and is expected to race the series once again.
Bruce should also be racing the MX2 British Championship so he’ll be eyeing up a domestic title for the 2025 season too. The MX2 British Championship will have different challengers than it did in 2023 as Cas Valk and Jack Chambers won’t be racing the series. Gyan Doensen, Max Werner, Tommy Searle and Billy Askew just to name a few will be expected to run at the sharp end.
More news coming soon.
