Race One:
It was a superb race from Romain Febvre to take a brilliant win in front of his home crowd. He made an early pass on Jeffrey Herlings and got the gap out to around four seconds. However, the last three laps Herlings put the hammer down and caught the Factory Kawasaki rider but he held on despite the pressure on the last lap.
Tim Gajser didn’t get a good start and was in eighth on the opening lap but then crashed which dropped him to tenth but he was able to fight back to sixth behind Antonio Cairoli.
Jorge Prado fought hard to salvage vital championship points but sixteenth was the best he could do.
Race Two:
Jeffrey Herlings got a good start in the second moto and was leading but made a mistake which saw Romain Febvre in the lead in front of his home crowd. The gap went out to around four seconds but then Herlings charged the Frenchman down and made a pass with four laps to go to break French hearts.
Febvre and Herlings were clearly the fastest at a slick, hard pack and technical track. Tim Gajser was behind Antonio Cairoli before making a pass on the nine times world champion to secure the last step of the podium.
