The rain started to fall just before the EMX250 first moto in what looked like prime conditions but it didn’t take long for the track to get slippery and slick for the riders. It was Luca Ruffini who took the holeshot but there was chaos around the first corner involving Lata, van Erp and Valk to name a few!
At the front, Grau didn’t get an amazing start but made plenty of passes on the first lap. He passed Valin before a mistake allowed the BUD Kawasaki rider to get back past. Valin was on the move and passed Ruffini to then pull away at the front. Grau rode well to finish second to keep his hopes of the overall alive. Soulimani was riding good on his two-stroke to pass Mads Fredsoe for fourth.
Cas Valk was outside the top thirty on the opening lap but rode a great race to get all the way up to seventh. Lata had issues and looked to have a damage bike before another crash – he ended up outside the points in twenty-fourth. Van Erp recovered to fifteenth.
Going into the second moto, Valin now has the championship lead!
In the second moto, all the championship contenders came around the first corner unscathed which was great to see. Ruffini got the holeshot but had Valin for company, the BUD Kawasaki rider passed him and then pulled away at the front to simply dominate at his home round.
Valk quickly passed Ruffini as well to get himself into second but couldn’t do anything about Valin. Despite being fourth around the first corner, Lata had a day to forget as he had a couple of crashes and only ended up thirteenth!
Grau went down around the first corner but was flying through the field and passed van Erp with a couple of laps to go to finish fourth and secure second overall.
Reisulis caught and passed Valk for second in what was a great ride for the Latvia.
Valin now has the red plate heading to the next round in Germany.
