Maxime Renaux was looking strong during the second moto at the Swiss MXGP, but his race came to an abrupt and frightening end after a huge crash in the closing laps.

The French talent had been in podium contention and riding well despite losing a position to fellow countryman Romain Febvre after briefly going off track. Still sitting third and on course for an overall podium since returning from injury, disaster struck when Renaux suffered a massive crash that forced him to receive trackside assistance.

Thankfully, the Yamaha rider has now provided a positive update on his condition:

“Big crash in the last laps of race 2 in Switzerland. Pity as I was on podium position and it would have been good to get that after these tough last weeks and injuries.

Luckily it looks like I am fine, I am completely sore and struggle to walk at the moment but it is only contusions and looks like no broken bones. Let’s give it some days and see what will be the plan for next weeks.”

It’s a tough blow for Renaux, who has been working his way back from earlier injuries, but the good news is that nothing appears to be broken. The hope now is that with some recovery time, he’ll be able to return to action without another lengthy layoff.
