After spending a few years racing in America with Star Yamaha and Rockstar Husqvarna, Guillem Farres has made his return to the MX2 World Championship for the 2025 season. The Spaniard, who gained valuable experience competing in Supercross during his time in the U.S., has opted to rejoin the Grand Prix paddock, after signing with the Factory Triumph Racing team.
While the initial announcement of Farres’ deal with Triumph did not disclose contract length, the 21-year-old has now confirmed that he has signed a two-year agreement with the team. This means he will not only contest the 2025 MX2 World Championship but will also be on the grid in 2026 – his final season in the class before aging out due to the U23 rule.
“I did sign a two-year deal. It’s really good. When you’re coming back from such a big injury it’s nice to see some people trusting you still. So, it felt amazing,” Farres told GateDrop.com.
His return to Europe was a conscious decision, fueled by a desire to reset and reconnect with his roots:
“After my injury, I was not so happy with all the situation that happened. I had a few offers in America, but my main goal was to come back here. As soon as I connected with Triumph, I knew I had to come back. I felt like I wanted to come back, to be back with my family and regroup a little bit. So yeah, I’m happy I took that decision and we’re back in the GP’s now”, explained Farres.
Farres’ presence in the MX2 World Championship for 2026 means that Triumph already has two confirmed riders for next season. Danish rider Mikkel Haarup will also be under the awning, as he will take on the MXGP World Championship as Triumph’s first premier-class factory rider. The future of Camden McLellan remains to be seen and it will be interesting to see whether he remains part of their MX2 plans moving forward.

For now, Farres is focused on his MX2 comeback, eager to prove himself once again in the highly competitive world of Grand Prix motocross. With the backing of Triumph, the Spaniard has a solid foundation to build upon as he looks to make his mark in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Farres did have a scare during the French timed practice as he was taken away in a stretcher but we believe he is heading to Sardinia to race this weekend. Triumph team manager, Vincent Bereni did provide an update on him after the GP.
“With Guillem, after the heavy fall he had he was checked by the medical team at the track and then taken to hospital for further evaluations. He’s had a lot of thorough tests and MRI scans and was released from hospital on Saturday night. Thankfully he is mostly okay, although he does have a concussion and he will need to rest while following the protocol for the recovery. The whole team wishes him well and looks forward to him being back at the races.”
