Chad Reed on Jorge Prado winning again and confidence boost for SMX

Chad Reed has warned that Jorge Prado’s confidence level could be even higher in SMX now that he has finally won an AMA National, the Aussie legend even saw some of himself in Jorge in the Spaniard’s honesty and consistent belief in his own ability to win regardless of the circumstances.

Chad said: “ I think that even when you take his background of MXGP, MXGP has been flirting with this, let’s call it SMX style tracks and layouts where they, you know, whether they go to a street circuit in some, different countries or they go to a, you know, a road racing facility. They have kind of like, he has experience, not necessarily as SMX as he’s going to experience in a couple weeks, but I really believe that the layout is really similar to MXGP has been in the past. And so I think he’s going to be really strong.

“What I love about listening to those, you know, sound bites right there is he’s, he’s really honest, almost to a floor. I could probably relate to that. Sometimes it gets you into trouble. You say what you truly feel. And I think that I worked with Jorge, quite a bit last year and everything. He never wavered. It didn’t matter how much he got beat. It didn’t matter how much he got beat by how disappointed he was in anything at the time, whether it be bike, team, track, his results. He never wavered in saying that he, he was better and he was capable of doing exactly what he did this weekend.

“I think that the biggest thing is clearly there was much more at stake for both Lawrence’s this weekend. And so I think that you, you have to be real and look at the fact that, you know, he rode really well. His starts were great, but  I would caution giving somebody like him the confidence because as riders, we can pull that from anywhere, you know, and though we take the 30,000 feet stance on this thing because we’ve been there and done it, he’s going to pull that information as real.

“He kicked those dudes’ asses this weekend and he’s going to come out in a couple of weeks and think that he’s got a whole new fresh start on it. And I think that as fans, that’s what’s really cool. So I’m excited to see what Jorge can do in these three SMX races.”
