Enzo Lopes and Jeremy Van Horebeek talk Brazilian Championship at Ponta Grossa

The Honda Racing team reached the top of the podium in the second round of MX1GP Brasil, the 2026 Brazilian Motocross Championship, this Sunday (April 26) in Ponta Grossa (PR). Faced with adverse track conditions, including heavy mud and a slippery surface due to rain, rider Enzo Lopes scored the most points on the CRF450R in the MX1 class, extending his lead at the top of the standings. In MX2, riding the CRF250R, Pietro Piroli overcame the challenges and remains second in the championship.

Enzo Lopes looked comfortable on the circuit, which, in addition to the mud, proved tricky due to the formation of deep ruts. With two second-place finishes in the MX1 races, he secured the overall win for the round and extended his championship advantage. The rider from Rio Grande do Sul also had a few scares—he crashed in the second moto but quickly rejoined the race to collect valuable points.

“It was a tough weekend, with two very different races. In the first, the track was hard with lots of ruts, and in the second there was a lot of mud. Since I’m from the south and used to these conditions, it was all good for me. Two second places and first overall with the championship lead maintained—that’s what matters. I’m very happy and can only thank the whole team for their work, which is doubled in conditions like this.”

Jeremy van Horebeek experienced two very different races. In the first, he took the lead and maintained a consistent pace to take the chequered flag in first, followed by teammate Lopes. The second race, however, ended in a retirement after his rear tyre came off the rim. Even so, he sits fourth in the standings.

“I was happy with the win in the opening moto. With the knee and neck injuries (from a crash in the opening round), it was difficult to push. In the second, I had the tyre issue—these things happen in racing, you just have to accept it,” said the Belgian, also riding a CRF450R.

In MX2, Pietro Piroli had to show resilience on the CRF250R to secure another podium, finishing fourth and second in the races. The rider from Rio Grande do Sul maintained second place in the championship.

“It was a very tough round; with the rain, the track became very technical. I didn’t feel completely comfortable, but I managed to get the best possible result. After finishing fourth in the first moto, I crashed at the start of the second, but I stayed calm. I stopped in the pits, changed goggles and gloves, and managed to score good points for the championship.” The Honda Racing motocross team is supported by Pro Honda, Honda Consórcio, Axalta, DiD, Ogio, NGK, Pirelli, Alpinestars and ASW.

JP Pro Honda Baterias Pioneiro – The satellite team JP Pro Honda Baterias Pioneiro also stood out in Ponta Grossa. Cesar Aponte remained unbeaten in MX2Jr, where Arthur Gomes finished third. The same goes for Luanna Neves, the undefeated leader in MXF (Women’s class). In MX2, Chilean rider Benjamin Garib finished third in the first moto but retired from the second. Back on track, Aponte secured sixth place in the first MX2 race. The third round of MX1GP Brasil is scheduled for May 2–3 in Castro, also in the state of Paraná.
