Deegan talks RedBud and that first turn crash!

Haiden Deegan didn’t have the 4th of July race day he was hoping for with 10-3 at RedBud after going down in turn one at moto one but rebounding with a third in moto two. However, the American admitted he didn’t have the pace of Prado or Hunter and smartly rode it home for third without riding over his limit.

Deegan said:  “That’s a wrap on the day at Redbud. Overall, I mean, it was pretty good in the beginning of the day. Qualified really well. Second session was the fastest, so that was cool. That’s the first time I’ve done that. Making small improvements.

“First moto went down on the start, made it harder myself how to come from 40th. I mean dead last. I was literally sitting there looking at my bike to make sure it wasn’t broke, so all the way up to 10th. So I’m proud of the effort there. It was good, didn’t give up.

“Second moto, better start. And man, when you don’t have that pace, that whole first moto, I was running at a slower pace because I was in the back. You get up front with those guys and they run at top speed. Jorge and Hunter were used to it, so I just couldn’t really adapt quick enough and can’t put myself in that position on the start. So at least we got a good start on the second moto, dug it out – P3.

“We’re safe. We’re healthy. We got ran over, but we’re good.”
