Interview: Broc Glover on Deegan, MXoN memories, his career and scoop tyres

We caught up with Broc Glover on Thursday at Ernee MXoN to discuss his MXoN memories, the situation with Star Yamaha and Deegan not racing this event and we talk about his successful career.

On the Deegan situation, Broc said: “It’s a tough thing.  I mean I can’t blame somebody for wanting to capitalize on their popularity and they know for certain, it was quite obvious this year in the outdoor motocross championships in America, the very first two or three races we had a huge record crowds and you know you there’s only one thing you can contribute that to is the fact that Haiden Deegan stepped up to the 450 class and people wanted to see Haiden Deegan battle the Lawrence brother. It’s just that’s what people wanted to see so you know the Deegan’s are not stupid, they understand that Haiden,  he’s having people walk through that gate paying the admission fee to be a spectator and come watch and they know that, so the promoters making money, everybody’s making money so Haiden wants to capitalize on that.

“Now on the flip side you know is there one race a year that you can put that aside and come and represent your country? I certainly hope so, we’re gonna find out the next time we race in America in a couple of years if it’s the cost of shipping all the machines and all that, would the teams want to get paid for their expenses or is it really truly just that somebody wants to capitalize on representing the country? So when  you have a race in the United States it doesn’t cost nearly as much as it does to fly a bike and ship all the people overseas to deal with it, so we’ll find out soon.

“In any other forms of athletic sports almost all of them get paid and very few of them do it for free. American football is a very dangerous sport, people are always getting injured but they get paid handsomely to do it and I guess you know, it’s hard it’s hard for me to take a stance one way or the other on that.

“I see both sides of it but I would you know I’d certainly love to see Hayden Deegan come over and represent United States but you know on the other hand I you know if you’re a team manager what you really do want I mean you want to have three riders that want to be there to represent your country so you know they’re gonna give it a hundred percent of their effort.”
