Anstie SX2 WSX champ!

Max Anstie won the opening main event and the SX WSX title at the same time after Chris Blose crashed and defending champ, Shane McElrath, got banners caught in his back wheel and was forced to run off the track!

Total confusion reigned as they went straight back to the gate for the second main with Anstie thinking he had maybe won the title but no-one able to confirm or deny the points tally! Anstie focused on the next main and holeshot with McElrath barely getting the bike working in time gating fourth. McElrath could only get to third and Anstie took the win, confirming as the 2023 SX world champ!

Anstie, Britain’s first World champ since 125 motocross world champ, Jamie Dobb in 2001, said: “All I can say, Millie, we did it! After everything we have been through, the bad days make the good days so good. It’s amazing to be the first British SX world champion, and the first British world champion in a long time (22 years!). I wanted one of these (FIM) gold medals for a long time. This is awesome, this is amazing.”
