Confirmed: Sleny Goyer and Levi Townley to make EMX250 debuts at Arnhem

There might not be any EMX125 racing at the Dutch Grand Prix in Arnhem this weekend, but the MJC Yamaha team will still make the trip with both of its young riders set to step up and make their EMX250 debuts.

Although the EMX125 championship is not yet over, with the final round scheduled to take place in Turkey, MJC Yamaha has decided to give both Sleny Goyer and Levi Townley the opportunity to race in the EMX250 class at Arnhem.

For both riders, it will be their first experience competing in the highly competitive EMX250 series and should provide valuable experience as they continue to develop.

Goyer is expected to make the permanent move to EMX250 competition in 2027, making Arnhem an important opportunity to get his first taste of the class before stepping up full-time next season.

Townley’s future for 2027 is less clear. The young New Zealander could potentially make the move to America to race next season, but if that does not happen, a full campaign in the EMX250 championship could be on the cards. For now, it remains a case of wait and see.

“I am excited to lineup on a 250cc at Arnhem in the EMX250 class. I’m excited to gain some experience on the 250cc and have some fun racing in the sand”, Townley told GateDrop.com.

With both riders making their debuts, they can approach the weekend without too much pressure and focus on learning as much as possible. It will be particularly interesting to see how they perform against more experienced EMX250 competitors.

However, preparation has not been straightforward, with both riders having had limited time on the 250cc machines ahead of the Arnhem round.

Nevertheless, the opportunity will give Goyer and Townley valuable experience on bigger machinery, and with both riders having plenty of potential, their EMX250 debuts will certainly be ones to watch.
