Race One: Lotte van Drunen got the holeshot but Kiara Fontanesi and Daniela Guillen passed her on the first lap and then it went from bad to worse for the Dutch talent. She ended up in a fence as it looked like she got cross rutted on the finish line jump – two other riders did the same including Courtney Duncan.
Fontanesi brought home an impressive race win over Guillen with April Franzoni third at her home GP. Malou Jakobsen didn’t get a good start but came from way back all the way to an impressive fourth passing Lynn Valk.
Lucy Barker didn’t get a good start but came back to seventh. Van Drunen way way back but managed to get back to ninth despite getting lapped. Courtney Duncan ended up twelfth after a second tip over trying to keep Van Drunen behind her.
Race Two: With high temperatures this weekend, the track crew over wated the track so conditions weren’t easy. Fontanesi quickly got herself to the front but Guillen was on the move and determined to go one better than race one – that’s exactly what she did. She passed Fontanesi and cleared off into the distance to take the overall win.
Van Drunen stayed out of trouble in the second race but third was the best she could do. Duncan had a great race making passes and finishing a strong fourth.
Franzoni had a bad start but was able to get herself back up to fifth which was enough to secure her first WMX podium – and at her home GP!
Barker rode strong after another bad start coming through to sixth for a superb fifth overall.
