Tom Koch has just announced that he is parting ways with Kosak KTM after four years with the team. It was a successful four years as Koch improved a lot – he can now secure top ten results in the MXGP World Championship as well as challenge for wins and podiums in the ADAC MX Masters series.
Sadly this year a couple of injuries disrupted his season but in 2023 he had some impressive results even getting selected to contest the MXoN for Germany. Koch was able to help them finish fourth overall at Ernee. One thing to note is that during his time with the Kosak KTM team he didn’t contest all the fly away Grand Prix’s.
For the 2025 season, we understand that Koch will be a factory rider as he’ll head to Factory Beta ran by the Marchetti Racing team. We believe the team have been in talks with plenty of riders in the MXGP paddock but have finally decided to draft in the German for the 2025 season.
Ivo Monticelli who was with the team this year is expected to be on the move but it remains to be seen what the Italian will do for the 2025 season and if he can secure another MXGP ride.
As for Koch, 2025 is going to be a big change for him because with Kosak KTM he was based in his home country, Germany. Moving forward that will change as be relocating and based in Italy so it’ll be quite the change but an exciting opportunity.
It is also unlikely he’ll race the ADAC MX Masters provided his move with Beta goes ahead. He may contest the Italian Championship or wildcards at least but the full focus will be on the MXGP World Championship. It’ll be the first season Koch will be able to contest all rounds of the championship which is a great opportunity for the German. At 26 years old he hopes the better days of his career are still ahead of him.
