Race results: MXGP World Championship RD8 – Kegums – Coenen perfect

Race One: Lucas Coenen got the holeshot and controlled things at the front with Romain Febvre riding really well in second for the first ten minutes.

Jeffrey Herlings was able to pass Febvre but De Wolf followed him straight through. De Wolf then passed Herlings and towards the end of the race started to catch Coenen. It turns out Coenen had clutch issues towards the end of the race but still brought home the win. One thing is clear – his competition can’t afford to let Coenen lead on lap one.

Gajser ended up fifth but over thirty seconds behind Coenen.

Pauls Jonass finished a solid seventh in front of his home fans behind Ruben Fernandez.

Race Two: It was an exciting race at the very front with Coenen out in front but Herlings was going right with him and Febvre wasn’t far away either in what shaping up to go right down to the wire.

However, disaster struck for Herlings with about eight minutes to go as his bike came to a sudden stop – a DNF! That is two in two weeks. Unbelievable and a big blow.

Kay de Wolf came through to third to secure another podium on his Nestaan Husqvarna.

Pauls Jonass had a strong day finishing fifth overall in front of his home crowd.
