Race results: MX2 World Championship RD10 – Coenen wins his first GP at Sumbawa

Race One: Belgian Motocross is in very good hands. Lucas Coenen and Liam Everts are the present and the future as they battled for the win around a slick track. It was actually a Belgian 1-2-3 in the early stages before Jago Geerts crashed out of the lead on lap two. Rick Elzinga was third after Geerts crash but had Adamo and Laengenfelder for company. Whilst Adamo tried to pass the Dutch rider, Laengenfelder used that to his advantage and put an aggressive pass on the Italian. The pair then battled for the rest of the race with Adamo passing the German back on the final lap. At the front, Everts led with pressure behind from Coenen and the Husqvarna rider made the move just before the two lap board and then pulled away to take an impressive win.

Race Two: The second moto was more straight forward for Lucas Coenen as he had a good start behind his twin Brother – a Coenen 1-2 on the first lap! Lucas made a quick pass and no one else saw where he went – superb to win his first GP victory, it’s been a long time coming but finally it’s happened. This kid is the real deal and has one heck of a future provided he can avoid serious injuries. It was an exciting battle for second as Liam Everts made a number of passes to get there but then started to possibly fade with the heat and had Geerts and Benistant for company on the final lap but that was the way it finished. It was a Belgian 1-2-3 as they sweeped the overall podium! Benistant didn’t look comfortable for the first half of the race but responded towards the end for fourth while Geerts showed again how much fight he has. Adamo had a terrible start but came from way behind up to seventh – his points lead is now only five heading into round eleven next weekend.
