Immaculate. The perfect word to describe Jago Geerts in rough sandy conditions. It was his teammate, Thibault Benistant that had the early lead but once Geerts passed the French rider he comfortably ran away at the front to win the qualifying race at Riola.
Despite pressure from behind from Horgmo and Laengenfelder, Benistant was able to respond to finish an impressive second.
Tom Vialle went down around the first corner and after Andrea Adamo crashed on the final lap just ahead of him, the Factory KTM rider got back to fifth. Mewse took a good start and came home a solid sixth.
A shout out to Kevin Brumann who rode well to finish in tenth ahead of Stephen Rubini.
