MX2 race results: International Italian Championship RD1 – Laengenfelder wins Ponte A Egola

In the first moto it was the EMX250 graduates that took good starts, Rick Elzinga took the holeshot from Cornelius Toendel ahead of Simon Laengenfelder and Thibault Benistant. Elzinga and Toendel were holding a good early race pace before the young German started to catch the front two. That saw Toendel put pressure on Elzinga and he made a move stick for the lead.

Laengenfelder quickly followed through on Elzinga though and then made the move on to take an impressive race win but Toendel also excelled with a second.

Benistant made a mistake that dropped him behind the impressive Everts but he was able to pass the young Belgian on the last lap again.

Lata rode well for sixth to hold off the very impressive Zanchi meanwhile Lucas Coenen and Andrea Adamo had issues on lap one which give them plenty of work to do.

In race two, Andrea Adamo took the perfect start and led around the first corner from Laengenfelder and Benistant. The young Italian, making his Factory KTM debut put in a lot of hot laps to pull away from his competitors.

Benistant made a move on Laengenfelder and had around a four seconds gap to close up on Adamo – the French rider was able to catch Adamo and was right on his rear wheel with three laps to go. Adamo didn’t give in though and showed his determination and held on for a very impressive race win, he already looks right at home on his Factory KTM.

Laengenfelder took a rock to the face and was bleeding inside his helmet so was nearly twenty seconds off the lead but still took the overall win.

Liam Everts was solid once again coming home in fourth ahead of Rick Elzinga and Lucas Coenen.
