With the new official that Lucas Coenen and brother Sacha are going to race three AMA Nationals this year ahead of looking to move full-time, Jason Weigandt got a great interview with the superstar teenager who is going toe-to-toe with the legend Jeffrey Herlings for the 2026 MXGP world title.
Lucas confirmed coming to America is and always was the dream: “We’re coming over for three rounds. I mean, those three rounds are a dream come true, let’s say, because we always wanted to come ove, but we didn’t have the opportunity. And this time, it’s in the middle of the season. So it’s a big, risk, you know, because I’m fighting for the title here in Europe. And coming over, people always expect, you know, to do like Jeff did in the past and those type of things. But, you know, when you’re fighting for a championship and you have the opportunity to come over and learn, see how it is for the future, because, as you know, our dream is to come over.
“Since we started riding, going to US, because when we started watching motocross and Supercross, I mean, first we start with Supercross, which is the time of James and all those things. So we kind of always watch Supercross, and then we watched Europe, because of course we’re from Europe, so we kind of race here and make the steps. But the dream has always been to come over, so the dream is to try to clinch championships and just come over and enjoy and live the dream.”
