It looks like RJ Hampshire won’t get a chance to run his hard earned number one plate on the 250 West coast after he needed more wrist surgery at the end of the 2024 season to fix his orginal break and continued pain while riding.

Hampshire, who had planned to race 250 West and some 450 East coast rounds, has had to shelve all of the those plans after only getting his cast off this week – and put his full focus on getting ready for the 250 East division.

Hampshire said on social media:

“A lot has happened in the last few weeks. My wrist was still an issue when I got back on the bike a few weeks ago, so another surgery was needed. Will be ready to go when racing comes around.”

He said in his SMX media day interview: “The plan of racing the 450 East coast is out the window now because I haven’t had any time on it. West coast might still be an option but I doubt it. In my scenario, I’m not going to rush back into it. Doubt you will see me at A1 but glad i won’t be missing supercross. It would be nice to win a 250 West coast and East supercross championship.

Get more from RJ below, who confirmed he is contracted to race the 450 outdoors in 2025, meaning the 250 East will be his final championship he will compete on the 250 before he moves up full-time to the big bikes in May:
