Glenn McCormick on joining Chambers racing for 2021 – excited!

Irish rider Glenn McCormick has a big opportunity in front of him in 2021. The former Ulster MX2 champion will be graduating to the 450 for next season and racing not only the British and MX Nationals in the UK but also the EMX Open championship that runs alongside MXGP!

For Glenn, this will be his first chance at international racing and his first time racing a 450 full-time, although he did show he had good speed on one when he won the final 450 Ulster championship moto of the season in 2019 after racing the 250 class the previous two motos.

“For 2021 I’m really excited and can’t wait to get started with the Chambers racing team,” Glenn told us. “The jump up to the 450 was only a matter of time as I’ve been riding one quite a bit the last year and I’ve been really enjoying it”.

“Doing the EMX is incredible,” he admits. “One thing I always wanted to do was the EMX 250 which for one thing or another I never got to do any and I’m really looking forward to doing it, something different.”

After a bad winter injury and then Covid restricting everyone’s racing in 2020, it was a tough year for McCormick in 2021 but a fifth overall at the final round of a very competitive MX Nationals showed the speed he has.

“This season was just crazy, assessed McCormick. “From breaking my hip last winter I was on the back foot, but I worked so hard to try catch up and then for the way the season worked out with very little racing, it was frustrating. But on a whole I was happy with my season and how it went and I’m now just looking forward to getting stuck back into riding again.”
