With the Microsoft issues causing trouble globally and grounding flights everywhere, Haiden Deegan almost didn’t get to the Washougal National, eventually being forced to take a private Jet – alongside Ricky Carmichael! Of course RC used to take regular private jet’s in the mid 2000’s as did Chad Reed and James Stewart, so he knew the drill!
Jeffrey Herlings of course took a private jet earlier this year to race the Hawkstone International but for Haiden Deegen is was not out of choice but out of necessity – if he hadn’t got that jet, Vialle would have been right back in the title hunt!
“All the flights got cancelled, I was kind of screwed,” said Deegan. “My parents know jet companies and we found one left, they doubled the price, so my parents agreed to split it with me, we ended up paying for it, Jalek and Ricky came with us, they also paid a little bit so that was cool. We made it work, it was a little stressful. We were trying to figure it out if we would miss the race!”
Jordon Smith was 76th on waiting list and thought he wouldn’t make the race but somehow got the call to board while Max Anstie had to sleep at the airport on a day of carnage to get to Washougal!
