Deegan on going over the berm and under the nets in Indy

Haiden Deegan was fast at Indy but casing the quad meant going over the berm and off the track just as he was getting close to Tom Vialle and Seth Hammaker out front, ending his hopes of a win. But third place saw him beat his major West title competition, Beaumer and Davies giving Deegan a 12 point lead over the KTM rider and all in all a successful night when looking at the big picture.

In the press conference, Deegan spoke about why he wears a chest protector, being less outspoken on the podium recently and his trip over the berm!

Deegan on…

Hitting the nets

“I was really riding sketchy the whole main event, I was slowly closing in on Tom just a little bit, that quad was helping me inch a little more so I was like, I am just going to keep pulling it out. I went a little too far into a line that didn’t have any pop. And I remember I just barely (got any) lift and I was like, ‘aw, this one is going to be a ride!’ Cased it rear wheel down and it just shot me into the berm, right on over I go!”

“The first thing I thought about was your bars always get stuck in these, so I took my hand of grabbed it and tried to yank it, I thought it was going to be stretchy but it’s not, it’s hard, so I was like, ‘dammit.’ I just snuck my head under, it was nice fourth place was so far back!”

Being less outspoken on the podium

I’m just staying locked in and keeping building. I want to be on the top step. Right now it’s just time to grind and get back, I feel like I am back, pretty close to to back where I was. There are a couple of things I need to work on, I just want to win.”

Wearing a chest protector over the jersey again

Just to be different, I like the chest plate over. We have about 50 Star guys so it stands out!
