Frustrated Sexton on Hangtown

According to multiple reports, Chase Sexton ghost rode his bike into the pits after moto one in a fit of frustration with things, like Jorge Prado found out last year, not easy on a 450 Kawasaki for either rider. Sexton crashed on the opening lap in race one to take 11th then stayed ahead of teammate Marchbanks in moto two fourth but the pace we normally associate with Sexton simply isn’t there right now.

Sexton said: “My result isn’t where I expected it to be, so there’s definitely some frustration leaving Hangtown today. I got off to a bad start in Moto 1, and was fortunately able to pick up my pace in Moto 2. We have a few things to work through this week, but I know what we’re capable of. We’ll keep fighting and putting in the work to show up ready to race at Thunder Valley.”

Sexton added on Instagram: “P7 at Hangtown. It’s been a tough year not being able to ride anywhere near my potential, but with that being said I’m not giving up and in the end it’s going to make the wins that much better. I really do appreciate and am grateful the people in my corner and all the fans having my back through a trying year 🫶🏻 See y’all at Thunder Valley.”

Meanwhile, things are going much better for Kawasaki in the 250 division with Levi Kitchen winning the overall saying: “The day was pretty good. My starts could definitely be a little better, but I’m happy with my speed, and overall it was a good day. In Moto 2, I got shut down early, but honestly, it probably saved me from getting caught up in that first-turn pileup. Sometimes you’re the hammer, and sometimes you’re the nail, and a lot of guys were the nail this time around. The bike is working great, the team’s happy, and I’m happy.”

We managed to catch up with a happy Seth Hammaker who still got on the podium despite going down in that huge first turn crash in moto two thanks to another impressive win in moto one plus we spoke to a very happy Mitch Payton who is seeing his team riders 1-2 in the points  with Hammaker and Kitchen, after the first two rounds.
