Max Anstie was on PulpMX on Monday night giving more information on the deal with Club MX Yamaha for 2027 that allows him to race World Supercross for Rick Ware Racing starting in Canada in August before Max returns home to the UK for round two in Birmingham.
Max said: “Well, firstly, you know, I’m really excited about making World Supercross happen again. Obviously I’ve won it twice now, and it means a lot to me. The Rick Ware guys, they’ve been obviously really successful with Shane and stuff in the past in the 250 class, and obviously having a super solid lineup of guys with Coop and stuff in the 450 class. The way it all pieced together, and it’s unfortunate for Cody, because obviously Cody was lined up to write for Rick Ware, and then he ended up getting injured.
“The way it works out the first round is Calgary in four weeks, it’s the in middle of outdoors. (On staying with Star and doing WSX) It’s a bit of a mission, and basically, for one reason or another, clearly it’s just the amount of guys that they’ve got at Star. It was going to be possible, and it wasn’t going to be possible, then it was, and it wasn’t. But basically, it wasn’t going to work out to race that, and for me, that championship means a lot, because obviously I’ve got a British round for round two, and the way it works out, I make more money doing that than what I do the whole year on Star anyway.
“So I want to go and win that championship, and do the best job that I can, and for me, that championship meant a lot. So for Rick Ware, and obviously they have the collaboration with Club MX, so that was the first piece of the puzzle that sort of fell into place. And then I came up to Club to check it out, and honestly I was pretty blown away by the facility. It’s surprising how the Club MX is not talked about that much, the actual facility is f**king unreal.
“It is massive. I’ve been to a few of these facilities now, right? The place is massive, and it’s really, really well-kept, but nice, and the tracks are unreal. And also, the biggest thing that I kind of didn’t expect was how much they have focused on the recovery, their new gym that they’ve got, they’ve got sick ice baths, not just a tub. They’ve got ice baths, hot tub things, saunas, infrared things.
“You can do, like, doctors, because they’re with that McGinley Clinic and all that stuff. The physiotherapist, the physio guy, the nutritionist, the lady that cooks, she’s cooking lunch and dinner, there’s a couple of them. The first thing she did when I met her was look at my blood work and see, are you intolerant to this, or allergic to that, or whatever, and it’s very, very impressive with the attention to detail, all that stuff.
“I feel like I’m on a football team. I feel like I’m playing for Manchester United, everything is checked, I’ve got people for everything, and it’s the top level. So, no, really, really impressed, and really impressed with the facility.
“And then I got on the bike, and I rode Supercross. I mean, honestly, it was the first day on Supercross since Salt Lake, and honestly, I mean, well, I felt like I would I have if I was riding around on the Star bike. So, I was like, alright, I feel good.”
