Sometimes the answer is right in front of you and that was the case for Hunter Lawrence at High Point. It was a brilliant performance that saw the Aussie have maybe the most dominant day of his career beating Jett straight up for the overall win in moto two when they both got away 1-2.
Hunter even passed Jett back and pulled away and revealed after he had reverted back to his Pala settings where he also went 1-1!
Hunter said: “We tried something during the week and came into first qualifier hoping it would give what I was looking for, and it didn’t. I said ‘Nope, screw it. Give me back Pala’s settings, I want to go back to base.’ That was what I was after, and it gave me the feedback and connectivity and trust that I needed. And it was good, happy with that. We kind of had a few things from base we were trying for the second and third round and it just kind of wasn’t quite there. And I was just like, ‘Nah, give it back, give it back to me.’”
Hunter added: “Me and Jett are two for two against each other in the first four rounds. It’s good, I really wanted to tie that up and stop the momentum. I feel like in Thunder Valley my riding was good enough, and speed was good enough to win. Didn’t quite have the trust in the bike I needed and ended up having some very uncharacteristic crashes throughout the day that were just frustrating because I don’t make those mistakes normally. So, today was a really good day.”
Hunter certainly took the momentum back from Jett who admitted he may need to do more testing after seeing Hunter’s bike work so well out of the turns in moto two while Jett thought he had a flat tyre in comparison!
Hunter went back to basics and back to winning at High Point, can Jett hit back at RedBud as the brothers set themselves apart in the battle for the 2026 450 US National title.
