Young British talent Freddie Bartlett has confirmed his plans for the 2026 season, revealing a full-time move up to the 450cc class, despite just being 16 years old.

Bartlett will make the switch to MX1 this year, opting to race a Yamaha and focus primarily on the MX1 British Championship. The move will see him based in the UK, while his parents remain in Sweden, working to support the programme behind the scenes.

In addition to contesting the British Championship, Bartlett will kick off his 2026 campaign at the prestigious Hawkstone International event before lining up at a number of other selected events throughout the season.

The decision marks a significant step in Bartlett’s career as he looks to establish himself on the bigger bike in a strong and competitive championship. With a British passport now secured, Bartlett will race under a British licence, making the UK-based programme a straightforward and logical choice.

Bartlett is also currently looking to add further sponsors and partners ahead of the new season, with interested parties encouraged to get in touch via his Instagram.

Freddie Bartlett:

“We have made the decision to go MX1 in 2026. It’s a lot cheaper not having to spend a fortune on motors and getting a good competitive bike. I will be based in the UK with really good people around me so that will be really good. The British Championship is also a strong championship and easy for me to do because we’ve got plenty of good contacts”.

“In Sweden no one wants to help so it’s a no brainer to go to the UK. I’ll be racing under the British license – I’ve got a British passport as well now so it’s not a problem. I want to thank everybody involved this year. Many of my old sponsors from when I was young when I used to race in the UK and when I won the 50cc worlds. My Mum and Dad will be back in Sweden working to make this possible. Thanks to everyone involved”.

With a clear plan in place and a fresh challenge ahead, Bartlett will be one to watch as he steps into the MX1 class in 2026 for a fresh challenge.
