Haiden Deegan was expected to dominate Anaheim one but the defending champ blew the start and, for the second year in a row, had to come back through the field with Deegan just missing the podium in fourth.
This is what he told the media about his night:
I really made a mistake switching my gate, I should have just stayed where I was at. I was trying to find a better rut. It happens. On that gate,(it)was pretty rough. It’s like, I’m gonna get on that smooth gate. And unfortunately, I should have just realized I have suspension on my dirt bike and stuck with that bumpy gate, right? So I think that’s why I kind of, you know, had that little brain fog was just like, trying to find a smooth line when I just don’t need to overthink it and just go with the flow.
That’s the first round. One day I’ll hit my luck on this first round, but tonight wasn’t the night, but you know, we’ll get there. Obviously I wanted to win. That’s always the goal. But no, I’m not tripping. I know how many races we have and still in the top five of the first round. I’m healthy so we’ll just go back to work. And I know I have my starts right. I just, you know, brain fogged on that one. So we get everything back in line and come out swinging next weekend.
I just got to find my flow, and we’ll take off. Once I get that little mind switch to, you know, go back to where I can find my flow, it’s game over, but we just got to find that.
