Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Racing are still relatively new to the Grand Prix paddock, having only entered the scene in 2024 – but they are already preparing for a fresh chapter. After two seasons running Husqvarna machinery, the team have confirmed that they will switch to KTM machinery for the 2026 campaign.
While the move represents a change of brand, it doesn’t take the squad far from familiar territory. KTM, like Husqvarna, sits under the Pierer Mobility AG umbrella – currently in the process of being renamed to Bajaj Mobility AG. As a result, the team will continue to benefit from the wider technical platform and support structure they have grown used to.
Under the team awning in 2026 will be Mads Fredsoe and Liam Owens, both of whom impressed through their 2025 seasons and have committed to staying on. Their continuity should provide a strong foundation as the team adapts to the KTM package.
Joining them will be Francesco Bellei, who steps up to the EMX250 series next year. It will mark Bellei’s rookie season in the class, but the Italian talent is regarded as one to watch as he tackles the challenge of racing at a higher level.
Roan Tolsma will also be with the team closely as he has signed with the newly formed, Cat Moto Prospects team for the 2026 season.
With a promising rider line-up and a renewed technical direction, Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Racing continue to build momentum – and 2026 could be another important step in their development within the Grand Prix paddock.
Andre Stumpf (team manager):
“The switch to KTM is very exciting for us, as it’s the flagship brand of the Austrian group. The bike is quite similar to the Husqvarna, which means we can focus on refining the details since we already had a strong package in 2025. We’re highly motivated to make 2026 our most successful year yet”.
