After a heavy crash at the brutal Lommel circuit, Jago Geerts has been ruled out of this weekend’s MXGP of Sweden.
Yamaha has confirmed that the Belgian star suffered a bone contusion in his left knee during the incident, forcing him to sit out the Uddevalla round.
At this stage, it’s unclear how long Geerts will be sidelined, but he’ll be eager to make a swift recovery and return to action when the series heads to Arnhem – a track featuring the kind of sandy conditions in which he excels.
Geerts’ absence will be a blow for both the rider and his fans, as he continues to search for consistent form and results in the premier class following his move up from MX2.

On the flip side, the team will miss Jago Geerts this weekend. After a heavy fall in the opening race in Lommel, Belgium, ten days ago, Geerts has been managing some discomfort in his left knee. A medical assessment has since revealed a bone contusion, leading to the decision for the Belgian to sit out the Grand Prix this weekend to focus on his recovery.
