It has been a difficult campaign for Italian MXGP rider Alberto Forato, who has endured yet another setback which has ended his season. After returning to action from a previous knee injury, Forato had been finding his form and beginning to showcase his true potential by breaking into the top ten of MXGP.
However, disaster struck once again at the GP of Finland, where Forato aggravated his knee. Following medical assessments and scans, the SR Honda rider has now confirmed that his season is officially over as he prepares for an operation.
Forato shared the following statement:
“Definitely not the news I wanted to share… During the GP of Finland, I suffered another injury to my already badly damaged knee, and after a week of tests and examinations, I’m forced to stop and undergo urgent and complicated surgery”.
“ACL torn, both meniscus destroyed, collateral ligaments compromised, and the list goes on. For me, the season ends here, but as always, I’ll give it my all to come back at my best. Thanks to the SR Honda team, my sponsors, and everyone who supports and believes in me.”
The setback comes just as Forato was building momentum in the premier class, making his injury all the more frustrating. While it’s a bitter end to his 2025 season, the focus now turns to recovery and rehabilitation.
It remains to be seen where Forato’s future lies, but the talented Italian will undoubtedly be aiming to return to full strength and secure a competitive MXGP ride for the 2026 season.
