Official: Lucas Coenen to sit out for the remainder of the Czech GP

It’s been a tough time for time for Lucas Coenen since his qualifying crash at Foxhill just off the start – he has been in a lot of pain.

After not picking up any points in the UK despite trying to line up and also trying to race the qualifying race in Loket, the decision has now been made together with his team to sit out the rest of the GP.

It means he’ll lose the championship lead with Jeffrey Herlings only one point behind heading into the main races.

The hope will be that the young Belgian can line up at his home MXGP at Lommel next weekend.

KTM posted the following update on social media:

“Lucas Coenen sidelined for the remainder of the MXGP of Czech Republic. After sustaining a compressed sciatic nerve in his left leg, he will sit out Sunday’s races at Loket”

“The Belgian is focused on a swift recovery and speedy comeback”.
