After a strong start to his debut season with the Factory Kawasaki Racing Team, Pauls Jonass has unfortunately suffered a setback at round four of the MXGP series in Sardinia.

The Latvian, who signed with KRT for the 2025 campaign, has shown solid form so far, sitting sixth in the championship standings after three rounds. However, during the first free practice session in Riola Sardo, Jonass had a crash that has ruled him out of the weekend’s racing.

Kawasaki confirmed the news with a short statement:

“Pauls Jonass out for MXGP Sardinia: Unfortunately Pauls Jonass will sit out the MXGP of Sardinia. Pauls had a crash in the first free practice session and as a precaution, it has been decided not to ride anymore this weekend. More information will follow later!”

At this stage, the full extent of the injury is still to be determined, but the immediate concern is Jonass’ well-being following a head impact.

It’s an unfortunate blow for the former MX2 World Champion, who had looked right at home on the green machine and was building strong momentum in the early stages of the season. The hope will be for a swift recovery and a quick return to racing as the championship continues to unfold.
