EXCL: Pelle Gundersen to contest the EMX250 series in 2025

Words: Andy McKinstry

Coming into the 2024 season, Pelle Gundersen had raced selected EMX125 events but this year was his first full season racing the series. The Norwegian was solid and showed a lot of promise this year before picking up an injury at Maggiora which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The Norwegian has made the decision to make the step up to the 250cc for the 2025 season which will see him race the EMX250 series as well as the MX2 Swedish Championship. It is a decision he’s made with his size and stature in mind as he feels he’s outgrowing the 125cc machine.

2025 will be his rookie season in the EMX250 championship but he has plenty of potential for the future. The goal will be to remain injury free and make it to all the rounds which will enable him to develop and progress.

Gundersen will remain with his privateer setup for the 2025 season with the help of Husqvarna Scandinavia – his father Kenneth Gundersen will remain heavily involved as Pelle tries to follow in his footsteps.

“It was for sure a hard decision to make, but I’m sure I made the right decision. As a private rider it was so much work to do race the 125cc, the motors got worn out all the time, the pistons only lasted 1-2 hours. Together with that and the fact I’m growing, I’m starting to get pretty high and so I think the 250cc suits me better. We talked to a few teams and had the opportunity to test a few bikes but I felt ready to move up, I am still planning on racing the Junior World Championship on 125cc”, Gundersen told GateDrop.com.

“I have had my 250cc for seven weeks now and done almost fifty hours on it. I feel really good on it, the 4-stroke suits me very well and I’m really comfortable on the bike. My expectations and goals for next year is to fight for a overall win in the MX2 Swedish championship and to finish the EMX250 in the top ten, with some top five results – it would be great”.

“I really want to thank everyone one around me, especially the whole Husqvarna Scandinavia squad and of course my family for all the hard work”, concluded Gundersen.
