Jeffrey Herlings was on fire in the second moto in Arco. After coming from last to ninth in race one following a first turn crash Herlings gated around tenth in race two with his three title rivals Prado,m Renaux and Febvre 1-2-3 up front! Seeing that, Herlings said he “pressed beast mode” using the speed that no-one else on the planet has to come through and take the lead, passing both Renaux and Prado in a couple of corners!
Herlings is trying to be smart this year but the with the previous few motos costing his title points, Herlings had had enough and went back to the pure speed that made him the fastest rider in the world – and it worked!
Herlings said: “Second moto I started around 8th-10th but then I pushed ‘Beast’ mode. Being defensive has not always been working. So, I thought ‘let’s go back to the old Jeffrey’ and push for it: I showed what I am capable of. We lost a few points this weekend but I hope I can make them up again in Portugal in a couple of weeks.”
