Victor Kleemann on securing an EMX250 ride – KMP Honda!

The Kleemann Brothers have been in the GP paddock the past few years but they both have a new challenge for the 2022 season. After it was confirmed that William has signed with Riley Racing Yamaha, Victor has revealed he’s secured a ride with the KMP Honda team to contest the EMX250 series.

After many years as a privateer it’s nice to see both Brothers getting backed by a team and the young Danes will be hoping to repay their new teams with good results.

We caught up with Victor to discuss his deal with KMP Honda and more.

How the deal came about with the team…

I got in contact with the team boss from KMP through my trainer, and I went to the team for a talk and instantly felt really comfortable. I really like their structure and working ethics in the team and we all agreed to work together for 2022.

How it feels to secure an emx250 ride…

It feels amazing to finally have the support at the EMX races I have been needing for so long. Doing it as a privateer has been fine but there has been a lot of stress in between moto’s with bike work, preparing gear and recovering. I really think now that it will be a little less hectic so I can recover a little better in between moto’s and the atmosphere will be a little lighter I believe this will move me closer to achieving my goals and perform for 2022.

After years being a privateer, this must be a huge weight off your shoulders…

As I previously said, it will make the atmosphere a whole lot lighter. Before we have been a two rider team with my dad as mechanic doing everything on the bikes at the race day and driving thousands of km to get to the races and my mom has been cooking all the food so we could perform well and helped wherever help was needed, so it has been a big family effort. At times it has been very hectic and stressful but it is something I have loved doing with my whole family and definitely something I will miss in a way. But for the last couple of EMX rounds we got a second mechanic and it helped an extreme amount, stress levels where down so we could focus more on ourselves as riders and everything was a lot more fun because of the extra time we got. So I think next year will be really good on those terms.

Expectations for the season…

My expectations for this next season is quite high, I really liked where I ended 2021 and with the preparation and measures I am taking in 2022 to be able to do good is enabling me to work as hard as the other pro mx riders. So I am really looking forward for this next season and really wants to get some good results down on paper.

Anyone to thank and anything else to add…

I want to say an enormous THANK YOU to my parents for letting me pursue my dream as a pro athlete. I want to thank all my mx trainers for believing in me and putting in so much effort in helping me on my journey! I want to thank my mental coach for all the hours of work we have been doing together in 2021! And I want to give a big thank you to the guys at KMP for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their team for 2022. And to everyone else who supports me, believes in me and helps me, thank you!
