Race results: MXGP World Championship RD8 – Herlings on top at Kegums

Race One: It was on at the front with Prado and Herlings holding the first two positions after Herlings made a quick pass on Fernandez. There wasn’t much to split the pair before Herlings tipped over dropping back to seven seconds behind. After a few laps to regroup he then set about closing the gap and didn’t take long at all to catch and pass Prado to take the moto win. Fernandez rode well to take a distant third ahead of Glenn Coldenhoff. Romain Febvre and Jeremy Seewer didn’t get good starts and with it being hard to pass had to be content to finish sixth and seventh respectively.

Race Two: Conditions were totally different for the riders in race two after some rain making it Enduro like in places. Prado held the early lead but Febvre was loving the rough conditions and good a better start putting himself in a much better position. Febvre passed Prado and pulled away at the front. Herlings was third and as soon as he saw Coldenhoff close behind, decided to go! It didn’t take him long to catch and pass Prado for second and then set his sights on Febvre. Herlings got the job done to go 1-1 for his 103rd GP overall win and has closed the championship chase down to 15 points.
