Race results: MX2 World Championship RD8 – De Wolf wins his first GP at Kegums

Race One:  Kay de Wolf and Thibault Benistant set a very high pace at the front of the field at a choppy but fast Kegums circuit. Benistant had the lead at the start ahead of De Wolf but the young Dutch talent was able to make a pass scrubing his way past. It looked like he might pull away but Benistant wasn’t having any of it and was there right until the end but De Wolf took the win. Credit to Van de Moosdijk who held the pace of the front two for the first ten minutes before fading but third was a good result. Andrea Adamo had a horrid start but made a number of passes to recover to fifth behind his team mate, Liam Everts.

Race Two: With rain falling, it made things very tricky for the riders in race two! There was drama around the first corner with Benistant going down leaving him with plenty of work to do. It was 16 year old sensation, Lucas Coenen looking superb at the front ahead of his two team mates in Husqvarna 1-2-3 but none of them rode the perfect race. De wolf was the first one to make a mistake dropping to third before van de Moosdijk crashed. Coenen then crashed out of the lead allowing de wolf to take the win and take his first GP victory in style going 1-1. Adamo rode solid for fourth with Benistant getting back to sixth in a good recovery ride. An emotional De Wolf now has the championship red plate heading to Germany next week.
