Race One: Lucas Coenen and Romain Febvre both got away at the front and were a similar pace – they weren’t ever really separated more than three seconds.
Febvre did make a move but the young Belgian read it like a book and managed to pass him straight back. In the end, Febvre had too much to do on the last lap and Coenen brought home another impressive race win.
Ruben Fernandez rode a very lonely third position ahead of the returning Pauls Jonass. Brian Bogers was actually running third but had a bizarre crash which looked like he dislocated his shoulder but he still picked up points in eighteenth.
Maxime Renaux was outside the top twenty on the first lap but rode an amazing race for fifth on his Factory Yamaha – he wasn’t even going to race!
Glenn Coldenhoff went down at turn one but came back from last to eighth. Herlings didn’t look as comfortable as yesterday and is most likely riding in a pain but came home tenth.
Race Two: The second moto was very similar to race one with Coenen leading the way and not only having to deal with a tough track but also having to deal with Febvre behind him pretty much the whole race.
Coenen stayed calm and had a superb race to have the perfect weekend in his second MXGP overall win – impressive!
Whilst he didn’t win the overall, Febvre now has the red plate and has a 25 points gap over Gajser.
Fernandez had a good ride for third to get back on the box. Vlaanderen had a better moto for fourth with Bonacorsi rounding out the top five.
